1 3/4 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
sugar for rolling

Sift dry ingredients. Stir margarine to soften and mix in peanut butter till blended. Gradually add sugars and mix well. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour mixture till well blended. Shape into 1-inch balls and roll in sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes, or till slightly browned. Remove and quickly place chocolate star candy (or Hershey Kiss) firmly into top of each cookie. Makes 4 doz.
