Tater Tot Casserole

1 lb. ground beef
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup onion (optional)
1/2 tsp. garlic powder (optional)
Tater tots (enough to cover top of casserole) American cheese slices, or Grated cheddar

Preheat oven to temperature for the baking tater tots. Brown the ground beef, onion and garlic powder. Add the cream of mushroom soup, without the water. Place beef mixture evenly in baking dish. Add layer of American cheese slices, or grated cheddar. Top with layer of tator tots and bake that length of time on Tater Tot bag or until tater tots are cooked and brown.
